 Edgard Corona, the mastermind behind Smart Fit,

With a degree in Chemical Engineering from the
Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), Corona’s entrepreneurial journey
began even before his university days. He started his own laboratory for

clothing stores. However, it was in 1996 that Corona decided to step away from
his family’s business and embark on a new venture – the first Bio Ritmo gym in
Santo Amaro.

His determination paid off when he opened a Bio Ritmo branch on Avenida
Paulista, targeting individuals with limited time for exercise. This innovative
approach struck  a chord with busy urbanites, leading to the expansion of Bio
Ritmo and the birth of Smart Fit in 2008. 

Under Corona’s leadership, Smart Fit rapidly
grew into a powerhouse in the fitness industry. Recognizing the transformative power
of fitness, he aimed to democratize access to high-quality gyms. Smart Fit’s
affordable membership options and state-of-the-art facilities attracted a
diverse range of individuals, making fitness accessible to all. 

Corona’s entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop
there. He consistently sought inspiration from international fitness
conferences, engaging with industry leaders and refining his business model.
Today, Smart  Fit boasts a presence in 13 countries across Latin America,
cementing Corona’s reputation as a trailblazer in the region. 

In a bold move to further fuel Smart Fit’s
growth, Corona recently took the company public on the Brazilian stock
exchange . The funds raised will be used to support future expansion plans and
strategic acquisitions, ensuring Smart Fit’s continued success in the
post-pandemic era.
